About Us
Moose Garden is a tourism company located in Orrviken, just outside of Östersund. In 1997, we started by taking care of two abandoned moose calves, thereby entering our great "moose adventure".
In the summer of 1999, the first calf was born in the pasture and so was an idea. We started making exclusive paper from moose droppings, which drew the attention of the world. Moose paper is an exciting product, because we let our moose eat plants and branches from the forest. We hand produce our environmentally-friendly paper from the moose droppings, making it 100% recyclable.
In the fall of 1999 a dream came true. We acquired a well-kept farm with buildings from the 1800s. It was perfect for a larger pasture in a beautiful environment, accommodations, and a café, as well as having great opportunities for development. In addition to all that, we even acquired an observation tower for watching for the Storsjöodjuret (the Great Lake Monster). Orrviken has, through the years, had several close encounters with the Storsjöodjuret.
Our establishment is built on genuine experiences in a typical Jamtland culture and environment. Here you can get in close contact with our moose, look at the worlds only moose paper production, and last but not least live and eat well.
