Our Mooses
In the fall of 1997, we had the opportunity to take care of two moose calves who's mothers had been killed in traffic accidents. It was love at first sight! In the beginning, Ludde and Ronja lived in a small pasture, but in the summer of 1998 they moved to a pasture that was about 12.5 acres.
The moose were happy and growing and in the spring of 1999 the first calf, Elvira, was born. We were all ecstatic about the baby, including the parents Ludde and Ronja. The moose quickly became popular among both Swedish and foreign tourists. As the world's largest member of the deer family, the moose's size, strength, and social attitude is impressive.
The moose are fed with hay, oats, and potatoes with constant focus on their well being. There are many signs that they are happy, one of which is that a new calf is expected. The summer of 2000 we even plan to expand the pasture.
Europe has only a few moose pastures and we of course want to be one of the best. We want what is best both for our moose and visitors.
